ProWine Hong Kong 2025, the fifth edition of the leading international trade fair for wine and spirits, will take place from May 14–16 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Hong Kong plays a pivotal role as a critical conduit for channeling the finest global wine and spirits resources into the market of Greater China and Northeast Asia. Backed by its mature consumer market and expansive distribution network across Asia, Hong Kong leverages its strategic location at the heart of international trade and business to reinforce its leadership in the global wine and spirits trade. This strong positioning continues to drive the dynamic growth of the regional industry.

This year, ProWine Hong Kong is set to feature nearly 200 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions, bringing together a diverse range of global wine and spirits products, and attract trade visitors from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macao, Taiwan, and Northeast Asia. The event promises to deliver a comprehensive overview of global trends and market insights for the wine and spirits industry.

A Global Gathering of Industry Players: A Testament to Market Resilience

Following its return to Hong Kong in 2023 as the first international wine and spirits trade fair held post-pandemic, ProWine Hong Kong welcomed 140 exhibitors from 12 countries and over 11,700 trade visitors. The 2025 edition is set to broaden its international reach with several key highlights:

  • Germany Pavilion will make a strong appearance at ProWine Hong Kong with its largest-ever participation. In recent years, German wines have gained significant traction in the Asian market, with premium white wines—particularly Rieslings—experiencing sustained growth in sales and increasing popularity among consumers.
  • Spain will be strongly represented through two official pavilions – DO Toro and Junta de Castilla y León to showcase the diversity of Spanish wine regions and the unique expressions of their terroir.
  • Other prominent international groups  including Business France, Investment NSW (Australia), Italian Trade Agency (Italy), Wines of Portugal, and UCW – Up Chinese Wine  will also showcase global excellence.

In addition to group pavilions, the show will  also feature independent exhibitors from Australia, Azerbaijan, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mainland China, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, and the United States — creating a truly global platform that reflects the diversity and resilience of today’s wine and spirits market.

Policy Changes Inject New Vitality into the Spirits Market

On October 16, 2024, the government of  Hong Kong Special Administrative Region announced the Public Revenue Protection (Liquor Duty) Order 2024, under which a new two-tier tax system was introduced for spirits with alcohol content above 30%. Under the new policy, the duty rate for the portion of imported spirits valued above HKD 200 is reduced from 100% to 10%, while the rate for the portion valued at HKD 200 or below remains unchanged. This policy strengthens Hong Kong’s competitiveness as an international hub for wine and spirits trade, injects new momentum into the industry’s growth, and boosts the global appeal of ProWine Hong Kong.

ProWine Hong Kong 2025 will bring together a curated selection of premium spirits from around the world, offering a compelling showcase of global diversity. Representing China’s rich heritage of craftsmanship and culture, Baijiu will take the stage alongside a distinctive line-up of independent spirit brands from Ireland, Mexico, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, and Ukraine. Together, they will present a dynamic spectrum of signature styles—from the malt-forward depth of Irish whiskey and the bold spice of Mexican tequila to the herbal complexity of Eastern European spirits—celebrating a cross-cultural symphony of taste that bridges regions and traditions.

New for 2025: ProWine Bar – A Fully Immersive Tasting Experience
The newly introduced ProWine Bar will offer trade visitors a full-day exploration of wines and spirits from around the world.

  • Morning sessions will feature a curated selection of premium wines, providing trade visitors the opportunity to explore delicate variations in flavor, terroir, and their winemaking philosophy.
  • Afternoon sessions will shift to creative mixology, with professional bartenders invited to showcase the diverse expressions of spirits. From classic recipes to innovative cocktails infused with local flavors, each creation will offer a masterful interpretation of taste, balance, and character. Beyond a feast for the palate, the ProWine Bar will serve as a dynamic platform for cultural and creative exchange.
